Napier Port welcomes new director

There will be a new face around the table at Napier Port’s next board meeting, with banking and investment specialist Stephen Moir appointed as non-executive director.

Mr Moir brings an extensive background in institutional banking and financial markets, having held senior roles at Westpac Institutional Bank, Credit Suisse (Singapore), and Citibank (Singapore, Thailand and Australia).

Alasdair MacLeod, Chairman of Napier Port, welcomed the appointment.

“Stephen brings a wealth of expertise in financial and risk management, capital markets and effective corporate strategy. I’m confident that he will bring real value to the table, and we are looking forward to having him as a member of the board.”

Moir currently sits on the board of BNZ as an independent non-executive director, and chairs both BNZ Life Insurance Ltd and BNZ Insurance Services Ltd. He also chairs the advisory board to the Victoria University Chair of Business in Asia, and is a director of The Guardians of the New Zealand Superannuation Fund, the Crown entity responsible for managing the New Zealand Super Fund’s global investment portfolio.

Having recently relocated to Hawke’s Bay from Wellington, Stephen joins Napier Port at time of rapid growth and development.

Stephen Moir replaces John Loughlin, who retired by rotation at the AGM after serving 12 years on the board, and joins existing directors Jon Nicols, Wendie Harvey, Chinthaka Abeywickrama, Stephen Bradford and chairman Alasdair MacLeod.
